Advisory

Tropical Storm Isaias expected to impact Beaufort County starting this afternoon, Monday.

This afternoon into this evening, Monday, August 3, 2020, Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to bring heavy rain, potentially damaging winds and some flooding to Beaufort County.

As of this afternoon, the National Weather Service Charleston is reporting Tropical Storm Isaias to be located 100 miles southeast of Tybee Island, moving north-northeast at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. Updates on Tropical Storm Isaias from the National Weather Service's National Hurricane Center can be accessed here: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Due to the storm, there is a high risk of rip currents in the waters surrounding Beaufort County. Boaters and swimmers are urged to use extreme caution.

During the storm, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office asks that residents and guests remain indoors and, if possible, avoid driving, particularly over bridges.

Beaufort County residents and guests should prepare for 2 to 3 inches of rain and tropical storm force winds between 39 and 57 mph, raising the potential for downed trees and power lines. Low-lying areas, especially near the direct coast, may experience flooding.

Beaufort County will remain under tropical storm warning through this evening. We will keep you advised of developments with Tropical Storm Isaias.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office appreciates your partnership in the safety of our community.
Please stay healthy and safe.
