Sheriff’s Deputies looking for Kenwood assault suspect
Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Valley Substation are looking for a man who pushed a woman down during a bicycling altercation. The incident occurred last Friday, December 7th at about 11:20 AM when a 68-year-old woman and her 70-year-old husband were visiting with a neighbor on Los Guilicos Ave near Warm Springs Road in Kenwood.
A bicyclist sped by them and got so close that he brushed up against the husband’s coat. The husband yelled for the bicyclist to “get a bell.” The suspect then stopped, turned around and approached the couple. The man’s wife got in between them at which point the bicyclist head-butted the woman and shoved her chest, causing her to fall to the ground before riding away on his bicycle northbound on Los Guilicos Ave.
The couple got in their car and found the suspect riding his bicycle on Lawndale Ave and followed him through Oakmont, eventually losing him as he rode onto a trail off of Stone Bridge Road towards Trione-Annadel State Park.
A neighbor who heard the original commotion was able to snap a picture with her phone and provided it to the investigating deputies. The suspect was described as a white male, grey beard, 55-65 years, wearing a red bicycle shirt, black bike pants, red helmet and yellow shoes. He was riding a dark colored road bike.
A Sheriff’s Facebook post on Friday has generated some leads but the public’s assistance is still needed. If anyone knows the suspect, they are encouraged to call Deputy Badour at the Sonoma Valley Substation, 707-996-9495.
