Lancaster COPS Deputies initiated a pursuit of a known Parolee At-Large near the intersection of Sierra Hwy and Ave M in Palmdale. Suspect Danny Reeder of Palmdale was the front passenger in a 2003 Ford Explorer during a traffic stop with two unidentified elderly occupants. Suspect Reeder made his way to the driver seat and drove off away from the Deputies, initiating a vehicle pursuit eastbound Ave M. Additional Lancaster Sheriff’s Units responded and later CHP patrol units, a CHP airship, and a LASD Airship engaged in the lengthy pursuit.
The suspect continued to evade arrest for more than an hour as he drove through stop signs, traffic lights and conducted numerous hazardous traffic violations through Lancaster and in mostly rural areas. Deputies successfully conducted a “spike strip” deployment in the far West Lancaster area near Ave D and 235th St West with contact of both driver side tires. CHP units later took over the pursuit and terminated the pursuit with a successful PIT maneuver on Ave D near 30th St West.
Suspect Reeder was uncooperative and displayed assaultive behavior towards law enforcement. He was tackled to the ground and handcuffed. He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. He will be booked at the Lancaster Station Jail for Evading 2800.2(b) CVC with additional charges pending. Suspect Reeder also had a $1.16 million dollar warrant for his involvement in an Assault case in Palmdale which occurred on October 23, 2016. He failed to comply with his Parole requirements in August 2016.
