At around 1:45 this morning, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a nightclub on Dunnagans Alley, Hilton Head Island to a report of a gunshot victim. 

Deputies secured the scene and Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue paramedics transported the female gunshot victim to Hilton Head Hospital; she was later flown to Savannah Memorial for additional treatment. 

On scene, deputies learned that the woman was shot outside the nightclub by a female subject — identified as Danielle Carpenter, 25, of Bluffton — and that, following the shooting, Carpenter left in a vehicle. 

Deputies on patrol were alerted of the description of Carpenter's vehicle and, a short time later, observed it traveling on U.S. 278 in greater Bluffton. 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Carpenter.

Based on information gathered from witnesses and evidence at the scene of the shooting, she was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. 

A handgun was found during the search of Carpenter's vehicle.

Carpenter was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated. As of the time of this advisory, bond information was not available. 

There is no update on the condition of the wounded woman.
