SANTA ANA POLICE STEP UP ANTI-EASTER CRUISER ENFORCEMENT – ZERO TOLERANCE

Traditionally, the Santa Ana Police Department conducts large-scale anti-cruiser enforcement operations every Easter; this year is no exception. In years past, the City of Santa Ana has contended with large crowds, congested roadways, criminal activity; and quality of life issues that affect our residents, businesses and visitors.

Given the current “Stay at Home” order in the State of California in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask everyone to stay home and off the streets. Please limit travel for essential emergency services only.

Should people fail to obey the stay at home order and engage in activities associated with cruising, the Santa Ana Police Department will be ready to conduct zero-tolerance enforcement. Road closures, lane restrictions and extra uniformed officers will help the Santa Ana Police Department crack down on the annual tradition of cars cruising on Easter Sunday.

In addition to zero-tolerance anti-cruising traffic enforcement, the Santa Ana Police Department’s Metropolitan Division, consisting of the Gang Unit and newly-formed Major Enforcement Team (MET) will be out in force to supplement the traffic enforcement and address criminal activity, keep the peace, and protect lives and property.

Significant lane restrictions and road closures will be in effect in the following areas: Bristol Street from 17th Street to Callen's Common, Main Street from 17th Street to Dyer Road, Edinger Avenue from Main Street to Raitt Street and Harbor Boulevard between Westminster Avenue and Edinger Avenue. Other vehicular and pedestrian traffic restrictions will occur throughout the City.

Traffic delays should be expected by anyone who does not avoid the targeted areas. We are requesting if you see cruising starting to occur or suspected criminal activity to call 714-834-4211 (or 9-1-1 if it is an emergency).
