City of Adak - COVID-19 guidance (Update)

The City is publishing the following updated guidance for residents and vistors to the community.  A PDF copy of the flyer is attached as well.  The following is the text of the flyer.

  1. If you have flu-like symptoms DO NOT go to the clinic. Call 572-9989 or 592-8383.
  2. Anticipate flight and mail disruption.Look at your supply of food, cleaning products, medication and hygiene products (soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags).Determine if you have a 6-week supply.If you don’t, call or text 572-6032.
  3. There will be no large gatherings within the City of Adak until further notice.
  4. City Hall is closed beginning March 18 through April 1 . The building will be opened to the public, only to access the Post Office Monday-Friday Noon– 1:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. For access to the Clinic, VPSO and City, arrangements must be made beforehand.
  5. People arriving in Adak who have traveled outside of Alaska within the last 14 days should follow additional Travel Guidance
  6. Public eating facilities should move to take out/delivery only
     
Steps to Protect
Practice good hygiene:
  • Stop handshaking
  • Wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Disinfect surfaces like doorknobs, tables, desks, and handrails regularly
  • Limit food sharing
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from other people
If you don’t feel well:
  • Stay at home if you feel sick
  • Do not leave home if you have a fever or have had one in the last 72 hours
  • Consider staying at home if you have a sick family member
 
Special travel considerations:
  • Avoid all non-essential travel.

Take these steps to monitor your health and practice social distancing:

  • Take your temperature with a thermometer two times a day and monitor for fever
  • Watch for cough or trouble breathing
  • Stay home and avoid contact with others
  • Do not share rides
  • Limit your activities in public
  • Stay 6 feet away from other people
  • Go to work only if you can safely socially distance

Passengers arriving in Adak having travelled to a Level 3 Travel Health Notice country in the last 14 days (Current Level 3 countries: China, Iran, South Korea, Europe (Schengen Area): Austria, Belgium, Czech
