Middle Police Seek Assistance in Locating Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder.
On 12/18/2019, the Middle Township Police Department responded to Bayview Road, located in the Edgewood section of Middle Township, for the report of gunshots in the area. Patrol units arrived on scene and the twenty-year-old male victim, Jahquees Johnson of Whitesboro, was found in the area with a gunshot wound. After an extensive investigation by the Middle Township Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Street Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, an accused was identified as Daquann Smith, a 19-year-old male. Daquann Smith has been criminally charged with Attempted Murder, a first degree crime, Aggravated Assault with a Handgun, a second degree crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a second degree crime, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, a second degree crime.
At the time of this release, the location of Daquann is unknown and there is an active warrant for his arrest, for the previously mentioned criminal charges. Please do not approach Daquann, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
