Jordan Godfrey was driving a 2018 Hyundai sedan southbound on Hawkins Avenue, near Patricia Lane, when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole at approximately 5:35 p.m. Four passengers in the Hyundai, Gail Block, 75, of Islip, and three children, ages two, three and seven, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The children were released to the custody of a parent at the hospital. Godfrey was not injured.
