Wanted man flees on bicycle and is apprehended by K-9 Scout

On November 25, Victor Carrio, 46 years old, Santa Rosa, was arrested for resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance and five outstanding arrest warrants.

At 2:00 am, a deputy and his K-9 partner Scout were on patrol when the deputy recognized Carrio riding a bicycle in the 1400 block of Maple Avenue, Santa Rosa. The deputy knew Carrio had multiple warrants for his arrest.

The deputy began driving towards Carrio to arrest him for his warrants. Carrio turned his bicycle around and sped off riding eastbound on Maple Avenue to get away from the deputy. The deputy pursued Carrio in his patrol vehicle, as he fled on his bicycle. The deputy told Carrio to stop numerous times, but he refused and kept riding.  The deputy briefly lost sight of Carrio and found him riding his bicycle westbound on Maple Street, back towards the intersection of Maple and Brookwood Avenue. The deputy turned on his overhead emergency lights and tried to conduct a traffic stop on Carrio. Carrio turned his bicycle back around and began riding eastbound away from the deputy. Carrio then turned left onto Brigham Avenue. As the deputy pursued Carrio, he kept yelling at him to stop and advising him, he had a K9 in the car. Carrio kept refusing and told the deputy he was not going to stop.

The deputy got out of his patrol car at the intersection of Brigham Avenue at Vallejo Street to see if Carrio would comply. Carrio quickly sped up and the deputy began running after him. Carrio was approximately 20 yards away from the deputy. The deputy ordered his K-9 partner Scout, who was inside the patrol car, to catch Carrio. Carrio was approximately 40 yards away when Scout caught up to him and bit his left leg, causing him to fall off the bicycle. Carrio was arrested and later transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries. The deputy and K-9 were not injured.

Carrio was booked into the Sonoma County jail on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance and five outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants. He is being held on $5,000 bail.
