At 8:50 p.m. on September 21, 2019, a male subject entered the Enmark gas station in Okatie and approached the cashier. The subject advised the cashier that he was armed with a handgun and demanded cash from the register. After receiving the cash, the subject left the area in a white sport utility vehicle. Sheriff's Office investigators processed the scene for forensic evidence and obtained the store's surveillance footage. The subject was not immediately identified.
The Sheriff's Office is asking for information from the public on the whereabouts of Melvin Cochran Jr. He is listed in the National Crime Information Center—NCIC—as wanted for armed robbery and may still be in the Savannah area. Anyone with information on Cochran Jr.'s whereabouts is asked to call Sheriff's Office Dispatch at 843-524-2777 or Crimestoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111, if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward.

The Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate 39-year-old Melvin Cochran Jr., who is wanted in connection with the September 21, 2019 armed robbery at the Enmark in Okatie.
Case History
At 8:50 p.m. on September 21, 2019, a male subject entered the Enmark gas station in Okatie and approached the cashier. The subject advised the cashier that he was armed with a handgun and demanded cash from the register. After receiving the cash, the subject left the area in a white sport utility vehicle. Sheriff's Office investigators processed the scene for forensic evidence and obtained the store's surveillance footage. The subject was not immediately identified.
Sheriff's Office investigators continued to look into the incident and—through interviews of witnesses and the examination of evidence—were able to identify the subject as 39-year-old Melvin Cochran Jr. of Savannah, Georgia. This morning, investigators presented the facts of the case to a Beaufort County magistrate. After reviewing the case, the magistrate issued a warrant for Cochran Jr.'s arrest for the September 21 Enmark Armed Robbery.
