Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed a teen in Central Islip early this morning.

Third Precinct police officers responded to 142 East Suffolk Ave. at approximately 3:45 a.m. after a 911 caller reported shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 15-year-old male had been shot.

Following an investigation, detectives determined the 15-year-old was in the woods with a group of people when they were approached by two males who fired shots.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
