Advisory

David Fields Jr. arrested for trafficking crack and powdered cocaine after search warrant on Wayside Ln, Port Royal.

Case History

A few months ago, Sheriff's Office investigators obtained information that illegal drugs—crack cocaine and powdered cocaine—were being sold out of a residence located at 8 Wayside Lane in Port Royal. Investigators followed up on that information and established that drugs were in fact being sold out of 8 Wayside Lane by a male occupant of the home, identified as 47-year-old David Fields Jr.

Investigators met with a Beaufort County Magistrate and presented the facts of the case. After hearing the facts from investigators, the magistrate issued warrants for the arrest of Fields Jr. for Sale and Distribution of Crack Cocaine and to search his home—8 Wayside Lane.

Service of the Warrants

Early this morning, Sheriff's Office investigators and SWAT served the search warrant at 8 Wayside Lane in Port Royal. When the search warrant was served, David Fields Jr. was present inside of the residence and taken into custody on the active warrant for Sale and Distribution of Crack Cocaine.

With Fields Jr. in custody, investigators began their search of the Wayside Lane residence. Recovered during the search was approximately 146 grams of powdered cocaine, approximately 19 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 19 grams of marijuana and more than 900 pills—believed to be controlled substances.

Also recovered during the search warrant of 8 Wayside Lane were six handguns. Of the six handguns, two had been reported stolen by Beaufort County residents, one had an obliterated serial number and the origins of the other three are under investigation.

In addition to the drugs and handguns, investigators located a large amount of property believed to have been stolen from various businesses in Beaufort County. The suspected stolen property is being cataloged by investigators and its owners will be contacted in the near future.

Additional Criminal Charges

As a result of the illegal drugs recovered during the search warrant at 8 Wayside Lane, and in addition to the Sale and Distribution of Crack Cocaine charge, David Fields Jr. was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Crack Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within ½ Mile of a School, Sale and Distribution of Crack Cocaine within ½ Mile of a School, Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.

Further Investigation

The pills seized during the search warrant will be subjected to chemical analyses at the Sheriff’s Office Forensic Services Laboratory. Additional criminal charges on David Fields Jr. and others may result from those analyses and the investigation into the suspected stolen property.

David Fields Jr. is currently incarcerated at the Beaufort County Detention Center. As of this time, he has not had a bond hearing for his charges.
