INCIDENT: FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

On Sunday June 23, 2019 at about 1:03 PM, Pomona Police Officers responded to a call of a solo vehicle accident near University Wy and Temple Ave. When officers arrived, they discovered the involved vehicle had struck a pole and caught on fire. The Los Angeles County Fire Department extinguished the flames and airlifted the driver to an area hospital for further treatment. His condition was listed as serious but stable. No one else was located inside the vehicle.
This morning Traffic Investigators followed with the hospital in regards to the driver's status. Unfortunately, hospital staff reported the driver was deceased. The driver was identified at the scene. However, it is unknown if any next of kin has been notified. It is not known what caused this collision or if drugs or alcohol was a factor in this collision. The Los Angeles County Coroner will conduct follow-up as well.
