CRIME(S):              25850(A) - Possession of a firearm
                               29800(A)(1) - Felon in possession of a firearm
                               30305(A)(1) - Felon in possession of ammunition
VICTIM:                  State of California
SUSPECT:             Clarence Deloach, Pomona gang member,resident of Fontana

On June 1, 2019, The Pomona Police Department dispatch center received a man with a gun call at Ganesha Park. Several people in the park called to advise there was a male subject near the community center and he was waving a gun around. The callers provided a good location and description of the subject, which was very helpful to the responding officers.

Officers responded to the park within minutes of the call. They quickly formulated a plan and entered the park on foot so they had the tactical advantage. With the great information provided by citizens, Officers located the subject and detained him. He was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun in his waistband.

The subject was under the influence of an unknown substance and he was a previously convicted felon. He was arrested for felon in possession of a handgun. There were no injuries or victims as a result of this incident.

The Pomona Police Department continues to work hard to remove illegal weapons off the street and out of the hands of gang members and convicted felons. This incident was safely resolved as the result of good team work by citizens, police and police dispatchers. Our goal is to make Pomona a safe place for Pomona residents, those visiting Pomona, and our neighboring communities.
