Man Arrested After 2 Accidents, Fleeing Scene, Another Arrested for DWI During Crash Scene Investigation

On Friday April 12th, 2019 at approximately 10:30 PM, the Middle Township Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 47 and Fulling Mill Road in the Rio Grande section of the Township.  It was reported that one of the vehicles, a black Dodge Ram had fled the scene and continued to travel north on Route 47.  Officers arrived on scene to find the other vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Camry, had been rear ended while sitting in the left turn lane on Route 47.  The driver, Richard Shannon age 38 of the Villas, his wife Abby Shannon age 37, and 3 children did not report any injuries.
 
Other officers were checking the area when we received a report of another motor vehicle accident on Bayshore Road in the Del Haven section of the Township.  The accident was a reported head on, involving the Black Dodge Ram that had left the scene of the other accident.  Upon arrival on the Bayshore Road accident officers had found the driver of the Dodge Ram had fled the scene on foot.  He was identified as Henry VonColln, age 36 of Cape May.  A search of the area was conducted where VonColln was located and placed under arrest.  The accident investigation on Bayshore Road revealed VonColln was travelling on Bayshore Road when he crossed over the center line and struck 2009 GMC Acadia driven by Annamarie Christopher, age 54 of Del Haven.  Christopher had to be extricated from the vehicle and she was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division due to her injuries.  Her husband, Mark age 64, was a passenger and was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center due to his injuries.
 
 VonColln was ultimately charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Assault, 2nd degree crime, two (2) counts of Assault by Auto, 3rd degree crime, Leaving the Scene of the Accident with Bodily Injury, 3rd degree crime, DWI and numerous traffic violations.  Additionally, VonColln was found to have 2 outstanding warrants.  After being processed, VonColln was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility.  The Middle Township Crash Team, Green Creek Fire, Rio Grande Fire, Middle Township EMS, Lower Township EMS and the County Fire Police assisted on scene.

Additionally, while the road was shut down for the crash team investigation, a 2003 Mercedes Benz driven by Louis Sicilia, age 26 of Del Haven, disregarded the road block and sped through the accident scene.  Sicilia, was located and found to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest.   Sicilia was issued summons for DWI, Reckless Driving and Driving on a Closed Roadway, processed and released to a responsible party.
