Press Release

Details: On October 7, 2016, Corcoran Officers met with an elderly female adult who resided in the 1600 block of Estes Avenue. She told officers she suspected her care-taker, Amelia Nai, had been stealing money and checks. Officers began an investigation and later served a search warrant at Nai’s residence in the City of Visalia. During the search, officers located checks belonging to the victim.
Officers also served search warrants for Nai’s bank accounts, and discovered evidence that indicated she had been cashing the victim’s checks.
It was determined Amelia Nai and Nai’s husband, Jack Vinyard, had been assuming the victim’s identity and cashing checks. The total loss was in excess of $22,000.00.
The Kings County District Attorney’s Office issued warrants for Amelia Nai and Jack Vinyard for the charges of Elder Abuse, Forgery and Identity Theft. Officers attempted to locate the suspects but they had relocated to the Las Vegas, Nevada area.
The suspects were subsequently arrested by the Henderson Police Department on February 8, 2019. Both Amelia Nai and Jack Vinyard were transported back from Nevada and booked into the Kings County Jail. Their bail is currently set at $70,000.
