New Episode of "Lowcountry Law" featuring the Community Crisis Response & Intervention initiative now available

Sheriff P.J. Tanner encourages Beaufort County residents and guests to stay informed on issues surrounding public safety. To raise awareness of the many services provided by the Sheriff’s Office, a video series, “Lowcountry Law: A Look Inside of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office,” was launched in early 2018.

A new episode of the "Lowcountry Law" series, featuring the South Carolina Department of Mental Health's Community Crisis Response and Intervention (CCRI) initiative, has been uploaded to the Sheriff's Office's YouTube page and is now available for you to view

In an effort to add to the mental health resources available in our community, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health partnered with the Sheriff’s Office in its CCRI initiative last year. The initiative was implemented in July 2018, after Sheriff Tanner provided two newly hired CCRI mental health counselors with offices at the Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center in Beaufort and at the Sheriff’s Office substation on Hilton Head Island.

The CCRI counselors provide on-site emergency psychiatric screening and assessment and are available 24/7 to our community. Through early intervention and follow-up care, the CCRI counselors hope to reduce unnecessary contacts with law enforcement and emergency room visits by those suffering from mental illnesses..
You can access the new episode and all of the previous episodes of “Lowcountry Law” through the following locations:

We hope you find our video series "Lowcountry Law" informative and useful. We will announce new episodes as they are produced.

We appreciate your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
