UPDATE (1/16/19, 6:10 PM) - Peak rainfall of current storm expected Thurs Jan 17, 5AM-1PM.

UPDATE (1/16/19 5:50 PM) - Peak rainfall rates of .5 - .75" & gusty winds expected Thurs, Jan 17, 5AM-1PM. Be prepared for flooding, mud/debris flows, dangerous road conditions, power outages, & evacuations. Malibu schools closed Thurs, Jan 17.

The storm system that is currently impacting the Malibu area is expected to intensify during the night tonight, and by 4 AM rainfall rates are expected to reach more than a half an inch per hour for several hours. Residents in the Woolsey Fire burn area are advised to prepare for flooding, mud, debris flows, road closures and power outages. If you are not under a mandatory evacuation, you should remain in the ready, set, go position and be prepared to leave if contacted by law enforcement. Residents should be prepared for road closures that could last for several days and should have sufficient food and medicine for all family members and pets.

City Emergency Operations will continue through the night and the City’s main phone line will be staffed. Malibu schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 17. For more information and to sign up for alerts, please visit the City’s website at MalibuCity.org or call 310-456-2489.
