*UPDATE ON NAVE/HAMILTON* Incident peacefully resolved. Man arrested for attempted arson and vandalism.
UPDATE
At about 1:30 pm, officers successfully negotiated the peaceful surrender of Juan Roman, a 40 year old Novato resident. Roman was arrested for attempted arson and vandalism and will be booked at the Marin County Jail. No one was injured during this incident.
We would like to thank our community members for their patience while we resolved this situation.

Officers are negotiating with a possibly suicidal adult male who threatened others and may have attempted to set himself on fire at the 76 fuel station on Ignacio drive. The subject has barricaded himself inside a vehicle in front of the Safeway fuel station on Nave and there are reports he is armed with a rifle or shotgun.
The area has been evacuated and closed. Please avoid Safeway and the shopping center.
Crisis negotiators are on scene and the SWAT team has been activated.

Officers are hopeful and working towards a peaceful resolution to this rapid evolving event.
