Fire At Townhome Reveals Clandestine Drug Lab

On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division was called out to an apartment fire located at 12447 West Village in north east Harris County.

Harris County Fire Marshall Investigators advised upon Eastex Fire Department putting out the intense blaze a search was conducted for victims within the burned out residence/townhome.

Investigators located suspicious packaging throughout the townhome.

They immediately recognized the packaging as bundled narcotics.

The investigators contacted the HCSO narcotics division, and personnel assigned to the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA) responded to the scene.

Investigators recovered the following illegal items inside the residence:

1. 28.5 pounds of heroin with a street value of about $1.8 million

2. 95 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of nearly $838,000

3. 1 pound of possible fentanyl

4. 4 pounds of possible fentanyl powder

5. 1 gram of possible fentanyl residue within a package

6. 1 individual ½ gram of methamphetamine

7. 1 Smith & Wesson AR-15 rifle with 2 drum style magazines.

8. 1 Hi-point .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun

9. 1 Body Armor Vest.

There are no arrests this time, however this investigation is ongoing.

All safety precautions and safety equipment were utilized for the possible exposure of fentanyl.
