On Monday October 8, 2018 at approximately 0600 hours, The Middle Township Police Department Patrol Division responded to the 300 block of West Anna Street in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township and the 300 block of  Goshen Road in the Cape May Court House section of Middle Township for a report that these residences had been shot with flares. At the residence on West Anna Street, there was damage to the front of the residence and a window was broken. At the residence on Goshen Road, a flare was shot through a window of the residence, caught the carpet on fire and burn marks were discovered on the outside of the residence. When police entered this residence at 300 Goshen Road, the living room portion of the residence was full of smoke.  

The Middle Township Police Departments Major Crimes Unit and Street Crimes Unit, conducted a joint investigation and arrested James Dehainaut, 19 years of age of the Swainton section of Middle Township and charged him with two counts of Aggravated Arson, a crime in the 1^st degree, two counts of Employing a Juvenile in a Crime, a crime in the 1^st degree,  two counts of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a crime in the 3^rd degree, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a crime in the 4^th degree, two counts of Receiving Stolen Property, a crime in the 3^rd degree, and one count of Aggravated Assault, a crime in the 2^nd degree. Dehainaut was lodged in the Cape May County Jail.    

The investigation revealed that there were also two juveniles involved in these incidents and their arrests are pending.
