Advisory

Governor McMaster reiterates need for Beaufort County residents/guests to remain vigilant during Hurricane Florence.

During his press conference currently in progress, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster reinforced the need for Beaufort County residents and guests to remain vigilant, as even though Beaufort County is not under an order of evacuation, Hurricane Florence has the potential to have significant impacts on our area: flooding and wind.

As Sheriff P.J. Tanner and other county and municipal leaders advised earlier, Governor McMaster urged those residents and guests in low-lying areas of Beaufort County to avoid risking their safety by moving to higher ground during the storm. It is recommended that evacuees travel south into Georgia and Florida to minimize their exposure to Hurricane Florence. Their are still uncertainties in the path of Hurricane Florence.

Beaufort County residents and guests can monitor Hurricane Florence's projected path through the National Weather Service https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
