National Hurricane Center releases 5:00 p.m. update on projected path of Hurricane Florence.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) released its 5:00 p.m. update on the projected path of Hurricane Florence. The NHC advises that Hurricane Florence is moving west-northwest at 17 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour.

Please continue to plan ahead of this storm, as there still remains some uncertainty on its path and whether or how it may impact Beaufort County. Emergency management officials continue to closely monitor Hurricane Florence and are prepared to rapidly implement resources if necessary.   

The Sheriff's Office will continue to keep you advised of developments with Hurricane Florence, as will state and municpal governments. Beaufort County government offices will be closed on tomorrow, September 12th. When government offices plan to re-open, we will advise.
