Details: On June 21st – 23rd, 2018, 13 members of the Corcoran Police Explorers and three advisors were able to visit our Nation’s Capitol, Washington D.C. The Explorers were able to visit the National Mall with the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial. The Explorers were also able to visit Arlington Cemetery for the changing of the guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and received a special tour of the Capitol Building with Congressman David G. Valadao, who represents the 21st congressional district. The Explorers were also able to visit the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and National Air and Space Museum, and National Archives Building where the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are displayed. The trip was made possible by fundraising efforts by the Corcoran Explorers and local donations received from the 50/50 club, The CrisCom Co., Elite Automotive Detailing, Sparklyn Kleen Car Wash, Bob Bajwa, Code 3 I.T., Felder Communications, The Printer and Corcoran Lion’s Club. A huge Thank you to these groups and all of the individuals who supported the Explorers by purchasing raffle and carwash tickets. The Explorers who attended the trip to Washington D.C. were able to receive a great educational trip in one of the most historic places in our country and they will never forget this experience.

The Police Explorers is a youth organization affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America that gives teenagers a chance to train with peace officers, learning the skills necessary to service in law enforcement.
