Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Brentwood early this morning.
A man was walking across Suffolk Avenue, near Grant Avenue, when he was struck by a 2006 Saturn SUV traveling east on Suffolk Avenue at approximately 12:54 a.m.
The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV, Pedro Rivera, 49, of 113 Barber Street in Brentwood was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
