Public Assistance Requested regarding incident in the 800 block of Drexel
March 14, 2018
Public Assistance Needed
Dearborn, MI. — On March 14, 2018, at approximately 2:30pm, the Dearborn Police Department received a report via telephone of a potentially life threatening situation occurring in the 800 block of Drexel. Due to the nature of the call, a perimeter was established and nearby Bryant Middle School was placed on a temporary lock-down in order to ensure the safety of our community. The police department was ultimately able to determine that the report made was a hoax, and the lockdown was lifted. The initial investigation has identified it as a probable “swatting” incident. We would like to remind the public that we take all reports made to our department seriously, and any false or intentionally misleading claims not only place the public in danger, but can lead to criminal prosecution.
The Dearborn Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Dearborn Police Department at 313-943-2241.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad stated, “We are grateful that officers were able to quickly and effectively respond to this incident without any injury to themselves or the public. We will work diligently to identify the individual or individuals responsible and hold them accountable.”
