Suspect Arrested in Brutal 2013 Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of a Child.

Feb. 13, 2018 – Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse Unit have filed charges against a man suspected of kidnapping and brutally raping a 16-year-old girl in Cypress in 2013.

Levi Austin Goss, 24, was successfully linked to the 2013 attack through DNA evidence. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted felony charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of a child. If convicted of the first-degree felonies, Goss faces a maximum possible sentence of life in prison.

A member of the U.S. Army, Goss was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he is being investigated by military authorities in connection with another sexual assault case.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory notified the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science in January that Goss’ DNA matches evidence collected from the victim of the 2013 attack.

Goss is now being held on a one million dollar bond at the Cumberland County Jail awaiting transfer to Harris County.

Records show Goss lived near the crime scene in 2013.

On Feb. 5, 2013, a 16-year-old girl was walking to Cypress Woods High School when a man attacked her from behind and dragged her into a grassy area near a movie theater in the 16600 block of Spring Cypress Road. The attacker struck the girl in the head with a blunt object, fracturing her skull. He then sexually assaulted her. Covered in blood and undressed, the girl played dead and waited for her assailant to leave before seeking help.
