(Harris County) Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide investigators have charged a 43-year-old male with murder of a 14-year-old female shot inside his home last July.

On Thursday, July 20, 2017, at approximately 0520 a.m., Harris County Pct. 4 Patrol deputies were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress call at 19927 River Brook Drive. Upon arrival, units met with the homeowner, Anthony Valle.

Valle told responding units that he shot an unknown intruder.

The “intruder” was identified as a 14 year old female, Layla Ann Ramos. Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene from two shotgun wounds.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide opened an investigation into the incident. Mr. Valle was interviewed and provided a statement to investigators in regard to the alleged burglary and shooting.

Investigators also identified numerous inconsistencies in Valle’s statement. Investigators determined that Mr. Valle was involved in an inappropriate relationship with Ramos, to include drug use and possible sexual misconduct.

Investigators established Ramos had threatened to report the sexual misconduct to authorities.

Homicide investigators discovered numerous inconsistencies in the Valle statement during the investigation.

A second interview was conducted with Valle. Additional inconsistencies were uncovered during this interview. The facts of the investigation were presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. The charge of murder was accepted by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
