HCSO Teams Up with Cy-Fair Volunteer Firefighters to Demonstrate Dangers of Staying Inside Hot, Unattended Vehicle.
On Saturday, August, 5, 2017, at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department (CFVFD) and the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) will conduct a Joint-Operation public event.
The purpose of this demonstration is to show the general public the true intensity of heat and related medical emergencies that can occur when a child or pet is left for an extended period of time in a vehicle.
Educational facts will be discussed during the demonstration. The event will include a ‘Hot Car’ demonstration, in which 2 firefighters from the CFVFD and 2 deputies from the HCSO will be seated in a CFVFD Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in front of Home Depot with the “standard vehicle” not running under direct sunlight. The firefighters & deputies conducting the demonstration will attempt thirty (30) minutes inside the SUV.

The Home Depot Kid's Workshop runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., located at 6800 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77084. Kids and attendees are welcome to view equipment and meet firefighters and deputies from both agencies during Saturday's event.
