On July 13, 2017, the Middle Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit received information that Albert Macfarlane Jr.  was in possession of a golf cart that was recently stolen from Sea Pines Campground. Both Macfarlane and the golf cart were reported to be located at Macfarlane’s residence, 455 Route 47 North, in the Goshen section of Middle Township.  Members of the Middle Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit then conducted surveillance of that residence.
 
While conducting surveillance, officers observed a golf cart matching the description of the stolen golf cart in the driveway area of this residence.  A brief period of time later, officers observed a subject arrive at 455 Route 47 North, towing a motorcycle behind his truck and make an apparent trade with Macfarlane for the golf cart. After the trade, the subject left the area, now towing the golf cart.
 
Officers then initiated a motor vehicle stop on that vehicle. The driver of the truck stated he traded Macfarlane his motorcycle for the golf cart.  A check of the golf cart's identification number matched that of the stolen golf cart. The golf cart was seized and will be returned to its owner.
 
Macfarlane was later located at his home and placed under arrest for Receiving Stolen Property.  While placing Macfarlane under arrest, officers noticed drug paraphernalia, a handgun, and other possible stolen items in plain view. The residence was then secured and a search warrant was obtained for the residence.
 
As a result of the search of the residence, approximately 1/4 ounce of methamphetamine, an amount of heroin, an amount of steroids, two handguns, an AR-15, two long guns, hollow point ammunition, AR 15 ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and prescription Xanax pills were seized. Macfarlane's vehicle was also seized and a search warrant for it is currently pending. 
 
Subsequently, Albert Macfarlane was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, a third degree crime, Distribution of Methamphetamine, a third degree crime, Possession of Steroids, a third degree crime, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense, Possession of Hypodermic Needles, a disorderly persons offense, Possession of a Weapon during CDS Distribution, a second degree crime, Possession of an Assault Weapon, a second degree crime, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, both second degree crimes, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Rifle, both third degree crimes, Possession of High Capacity Magazines, a fourth degree crime, Receiving Stolen Property, a third degree crime, and Fencing Stolen Property, a third degree crime. Albert Macfarlane was subsequently charged on a warrant and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.  The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office also assisted with the case.
