On Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11:51 PM, Santa Ana Police Department Communications received a call of a male down and bleeding in the area of 2302 W. St. Gertrude. Santa Ana Police Officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived on the scene and found a 15 year old male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. Fire department personnel transported the victim to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene. Based on the initial investigation, it appears the victim was walking in the area when he was shot. A dark colored vehicle was seen in the same area around the time of the incident. The incident appears to be gang-related.
