Detectives Investigating Homicide By Vehicle 1900 Block Of North Grand Avenue 
Victim: Trisha Irene Verdugo (27) Orange
On Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 10:41 PM, SAPD Officers responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree store located at 1900 North Grand Ave. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female down in the parking lot with multiple injuries. The female died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The investigation revealed the victim was a mourner paying respects to Joseph Garcia who was killed at the same location the night before. The female became involved in a confrontation with a motorist in the parking lot. The suspect struck the female with his vehicle as he left the parking lot. The suspect vehicle is tentatively described as a dark sedan.
The motive for this crime is unknown but preliminary investigation suggests the case is gang related. SAPD Homicide Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is requested to contact the SAPD Homicide Unit at (714) 245-8390.
