Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run will be running through WC on the final leg to carry the torch to Civic Park arriving ~4pm.

This afternoon, members of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) will be running through downtown Walnut Creek on the final leg to carry the Flame of Hope to Civic Park. The LETR is a fundraiser conducted by law enforcement to create awareness and support regarding the Special Olympics program and the World Summer Games.
Please join us and support this amazing team of law enforcement and Special Olympics runners as they pick up the torch from the City of Danville at Las Lomas High School at approximately 3:30 pm and continue their journey that will end with a ceremony at Civic Park. The public is invited to line the downtown route (Las Lomas to N. Main St., onto Civic Dr., and ending at Civic Park) and attend the ceremony at Civic Park (1375 Civic Dr.) to show their support for this dedicated team of runners.
The Civic Park ceremony will be from approximately 4:00 to 5:00 pm and will include words from various Walnut Creek officials, including Mayor Bob Simmons and Chief of Police Thomas Chaplin. Following the ceremony the Team will continue their journey running to downtown Pleasant Hill along Crescent Drive.
We will do our best to post updates of the runners as they near Walnut Creek. Take a few minutes to get away from the office, bring your kids, and encourage family and friends to join us as we support these valiant athletes in their journey to carry the Flame of Hope throughout our city (this run represents 49 U.S. states and 23 countries)!
