HARRIS COUNTY, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to monitor the ongoing weather event with the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Tropical Storm Bill brings the potential of heavy rainfall that could trigger flooding of roadways, bayous and rivers across Southeast Texas. Heavy rains are expected to reach Harris County in the early afternoon of Tuesday, June 16, 2015.

Houston area residents should monitor weather conditions throughout the day, and plan return commutes accordingly.

In the event of flooding, do not walk, swim, or drive in flooded areas. Flood waters often move very fast and as little as two feet of water can sweep an SUV from a road. In addition, flood water often contains wildlife such as fire ants, reptiles and rodents that can cause serious injury or death.

A temporary suspension of visitation at the Harris County Jail remains in place.

Visitation originally scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2015 – Wednesday, June 17, 2015 has been temporarily suspended.

Buildings included in the temporary suspension of visitation: 1200 Baker Street, 701 San Jacinto Street, 711 San Jacinto Street, and 1307 Baker Street, Houston, TX 77002.

Normal visitation hours will resume on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 3:30 PM.
