SAPD Homicide Detectives Investigating Shooting Death – Victim identified
Incident: Homicide –Shooting
Occurred: Tuesday, May 19, 2015
Location of Occurrence: 3900 block of West. 5th Street
Time of Occurrence: 11:37 P.M.
Victim: Miguel Gualfre (23) Santa Ana
Details: Officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of West. 5th Street reference a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim Gualfre lying on the ground, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso. OCFA paramedics responded and the victim was subsequently transported to UCI Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Through a preliminary investigation it was determined the shooting was gang-related. Gang Homicide Detectives have been assigned the investigation.
The investigation indicates the victim was involved in a confrontation with the occupant(s) of an unknown type of vehicle, prior to being shot. The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling eastbound on 5th Street towards Harbor Blvd.
The Santa Ana Police Department is offering monetary rewards for information leading to the arrest of gang homicide or felony gang assault suspects.
