Advisory

WCPD Partners with Nextdoor.com

The Walnut Creek Police Department is pleased to announce today a partnership with Nextdoor (www.nextdoor.com). The Walnut Creek Police Department will be utilizing Nextdoor to facilitate virtual neighborhood watch and foster neighbor-to-neighbor communications regarding public safety. Nextdoor is a tool for us to effectively share information on crime prevention and safety, public events, crime alerts and emergency notifications. However, the Walnut Creek Police Department will not be able to access residents’ websites, contact information or content.

We are excited about the opportunities Nextdoor.com provides that will allow us to communicate directly with those we serve and work in partnership to build a stronger, safer Walnut Creek. We encourage all Walnut Creek residents who are not already members, to join Nextdoor.com. The more that join, the more information can be shared, with an end result of a safer, more well-connected community. Walnut Creek Police Chief Thomas Chaplin stated, ““We are excited to have the ability to communicate in this unique and innovative way. We hope to educate our community with important information about activity in their neighborhoods and in turn be educated on Police matters that are important to them. Policing is a partnership and Nextdoor offers us the opportunity to take that partnership to another level. ”
