Charge dropped against one of two defendants in Cypress birthday party shootings
HCSO investigators today withdrew the criminal charge against Willie Young, 21, stemming from the Saturday night birthday party shootings in Cypress in which two teen-agers were killed and several injured.
Three people who knew Young by name and appearance before Saturday told investigators after the shootings that Young had fired a gun at the party. But after a charge of deadly conduct was filed against him, and while investigators carried out their responsibility to fully explore all evidence, other witnesses came forward and provided information that cleared Young.
Randy Stewart, 18, remains charged with aggravated assault for firing a gun during the party.
Investigators are continuing to develop information that could lead to additional suspects.
About 100 people were at the party.
