HCSO TO CONTINUE CRACKDOWN ON SEX BUYERS/SELLERS
(HOUSTON, TX) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Free the Captives – an organization that combats sex slavery and other forms of human trafficking -- reminds the public that deputies continue to crack down on individuals who buy sex or sell sex.
Thousands of visitors from all over the world are in the Bayou City this week to attend the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) at Reliant Center. The HCSO takes this opportunity to remind visitors to our area throughout the year, and everyone else, that buying sex and selling sex is illegal. Anyone caught taking part in these types of criminal activity will be arrested. Sheriff’s Office efforts to fight these crimes sometimes include the use of undercover officers.
Volunteers with Free the Captives will be at the conference passing out flyers echoing this message.
A copy of the flyer is attached.
A public service announcement (PSA) featuring Sheriff Adrian Garcia educating the public about human trafficking, and more specifically, warning the men who buy sex that they will be arrested, is playing on local radio and television stations. To view the PSA, click on the link:
