Law Enforcment Special Olympics Torch Run this Tuesday June 19 at 9:30am at Broadway Plaza in WC.

The Walnut Creek Police Department is excited to announce that the Special Olympics Torch is making its way across California and is fast approaching our neighborhood! The Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games is a three day event in which more than 15,700 athletes compete in 154 competitions throughout the region. This year’s Special Olympics takes place at UC Davis from June 22 to June 24.

To usher in this worthy event, over 3,500 law enforcement personnel from Federal, Military, State, County and Local agencies participate in the Torch Run campaign. It is a year round fundraising campaign that culminates every year at the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games.

On Tuesday June 19, the Special Olympics Torch will begin its trip across Contra Costa County. At approximately 9:30am, Danville PD will pass the Torch to Walnut Creek PD at Broadway Plaza. Walnut Creek PD will run with the Torch to Kohl’s in Pleasant Hill, where it will then be passed on to Pleasant Hill PD and Concord PD. The Torch will then continue its journey toward Solano County.

The Walnut Creek Police Department has been participating in this worthy and fun cause for over a decade, and would love to have your support as it begins its run on Tuesday morning at Broadway Plaza.
