Santa Ana Police requested the public’s help in apprehending a violent robbery. One suspect ID'ed and arrested

On February 10, 2011, the Santa Ana Police Department requested the publics help in apprehending a violent robbery suspect where shots were fired. The robbery occurred on January 19, 2011 and was captured on video. The video of the robbery was widely reported by various media outlets.

After release of the video, and as a result of media exposure this story received, an anonymous citizen called to inform detectives of a possible suspect in the case – Salvador Gonzalez Campos, age 28. Further investigation led detectives to believe Campos was in fact responsible for the robbery.

On February 15, 2011, detectives saw Campos driving a vehicle near his home in Costa Mesa. Detectives arrested Campos and located a .40 caliber Glock pistol in the vehicle. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is pursuing charges of Attempted Murder, Assault with a Firearm, Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and various other weapons related crimes.

The second suspect depicted as a passenger in the Chevrolet Crew Cab is still unknown and outstanding. The second suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, heavy set, wearing a white t-shirt and a black baseball cap. If the public is aware of his identity, they are encouraged to call the Santa Ana Police Investigations Bureau at (714) 245-8422.
