On June 22, 2025, at approximately 0900 hours, the Middle Township Police Department was dispatched to State Highway 47 North in the Goshen section of Middle Township for a report of a vehicle motor vehicle accident with entrapment.  A preliminary investigation determined a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound on State Highway 47 North when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Buick Encore. 

As a result of the motor vehicle accident, the driver of the Hyundai, Robert Burch, of Baltimore, Maryland was pronounced deceased at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division.  The passenger, a 70-year-old-female, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for further treatment.  The driver of the Buick, a 66-year-old-female, was transported to Cooper Medical Center for treatment.

State Highway 47 was closed for approximately 4 hours.  The motor vehicle accident is still being investigated by the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit, and the Middle Township Accident Crash Unit.
Also assisting in the motor vehicle accident were the Goshen Fire Department, Cape May Court House Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Transportation and AtlantiCare Emergency Medical Services.
