A short time ago, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Family Dollar store, Sea Island Parkway, St. Helena Island to a report of an armed robbery.
Deputies are on scene meeting with witnesses; the scene is secure.
No one was injured during the incident.
The subject was described as a male armed with a handgun. A further description of the subject is not yet available.
Residents and motorists in the area of the Family Dollar on Sea Island Parkway can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence over the next few hours.
