Caltrans will conduct full and partial lane closures on both Northbound and Southbound I880 between Mowry Ave and Thornton Ave in the Fremont/Newark area this weekend. Detours into Fremont and Newark will be in place. Motorists traveling in this area will begin to see partial closures as early as 9:30 p.m. Friday evening. Please give yourself extra time if traveling in the area and follow all signage in place during the closure.
Northbound I880
Beginning Friday evening, November 8, at 9:30 p.m. phased lane closures will begin in the Northbound lanes of I880 between Mowry Ave and Thornton Ave. A full closure of Northbound I880 will be in effect from 2:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. early Saturday morning on November 9th. Northbound I880 traffic will be diverted to exit at Mowry Ave, then north on Blacow Rd to the N/B I880 onramp at Thornton Ave. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th.
Southbound I880
Phased lane closures will begin at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9th. A full closure of Southbound I880 between Mowry Ave and Thornton Ave will take place from 3:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. A detour will be in effect at Thornton Ave. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 10th.
