Advisory

Anticipated power shutoff in parts of Fremont expected to begin today at noon.

Parts of Fremont are anticipated to lose power beginning at noon today as part of the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff.  We have attached a map of the areas we believe could be affected.  The map is not precise and we caution that people living outside the boundaries could also be affected.

Traffic along Mission Blvd. will be impacted during the evening today and into the commute hours on Thursday.  Fremont police staff will be in the area to assist with traffic control; however we encourage residents and commuters to avoid the area.  Please remember to treat signal outages as a 4-way stop.

At this time, we expect power to be out in the affected areas for at least 48 hours and up to five days.  PG&E must inspect all equipment prior to restoring power.

Police and Fire have additional resources deployed and the City of Fremont's Emergency Operation Center has been activated to monitor the impacts of the situation as well as the forecasted weather.

If you need to charge your phone or a place to cool down, the Centerville Community Center, located at 3355 Country Drive (behind Washington High School) will be open today as a Community Resource Center until 4:30 p.m. and later if needed.  It will reopen Thursday at 8:30 a.m.

We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
