“JoinBerkeleyPD.com” now Live

Today marks the official “go-live” for our new recruitment website, JoinBerkeleyPD.com. Our new website, and accompanying online advertising and social media accounts, are the next steps in our Department’s efforts to attract the finest applicants for Officer, Dispatcher, and our other professional staff in a tightly competitive law enforcement job market.

With our City Council’s support, BPD retained Epic Recruiting to build the website, produce content-rich, cinema-quality videos, create social media accounts, and conduct a targeted internet advertising campaign. Our website prominently features videos designed to highlight our Department’s unique qualities and attract potential candidates from the region, the state, and around the country.

BPD is also using a simple text-based tool to connect job prospects with our recruiters: By texting “bpdjobs” to (510) 399-1814, a potential applicant can quickly leave information for a recruiter, who can respond with additional information and follow-up.

Know someone you think would make a great officer, dispatcher, or community services officer? Help us find the “right” people for a challenging and rewarding career in law enforcement. We invite our community to pass this site along to anyone who’d make an excellent addition to the Berkeley Police Department.

The Berkeley Police Department, like agencies large and small across the country, is contending with a significant staffing shortage, and has a goal of hiring 25-30 officers in the next 18-24 months to reach our staffing goals. A year ago, the Department established a Recruitment team consisting of four full-time members, supported by many others. This team has helped to double our number of applicants, increased the Department’s personal contact and outreach, and helped make our hiring processes more efficient, while recruiting the best qualified people for our Department, and our community.
