Early this morning, CHP (Dublin Office) and Cal Trans responded to a major collision involving big rigs in the northbound lanes of I680 in the Sunol area (Andrade exit area). As a result, traffic was shut down for several hours. Two lanes have reopened, however clean up of the right lane and shoulder continues and has been affecting traffic in Fremont all day. Traffic has been reported as far back as the south Mission Blvd exit (Warm Springs). We anticipate traffic will continue to be slow throughout the remainder of the afternoon.
Please plan accordingly, give yourself extra time and be patient. Use alternative routes if possible. Our traffic unit will be patrolling our most problematic areas as calls for service allow.
