Police activity Tuesday night in Fremont/Mowry area related to strong-arm robbery. Two suspects were arrested.

Two suspects were arrested after fleeing from officers in connection with a robbery at the AT&T store located at the Fremont Hub Tuesday night.

On Tuesday evening at approximately 8:50 p.m., Sgt. McCormick was patrolling the area of the Fremont Hub looking for a stolen vehicle.  While driving through the parking lot, he observed three men running holding what appeared to be computers and phones.  The three got into a vehicle driven by a woman and exited the parking lot.

Sgt. McCormick advised dispatch and additional officers, including several detectives working auto burglary suppression, responded to the area.  Dispatch immediately confirmed the AT&T store had just been robbed, as they had simultaneously received a 911 call.   Sgt. McCormick attempted a traffic enforcement stop, but the driver initially failed to yield.  She then stopped the vehicle in the eastbound Mowry Ave turn pocket for northbound Fremont Blvd.  When the car came to a stop, three men got out and ran northbound on Fremont Blvd. from Mowry.  The 22 year old female driver, Tiana Cook (Richmond resident) was taken into custody.

A large perimeter was setup by responding officers.  The initial focus was the area of Bell Common near the drainage canal, where the suspects were last seen running.   At 10:47 p.m., a search team located 21 year old Demareia Duncan (no address given) hiding in the backyard of a residence in the 4100 block of Bell Common.   A police K9 was used to help take Duncan into custody.

All of the stolen property was recovered from the vehicle.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. the perimeter was taken down.  The two additional male suspects were not located. Detectives are actively following up on leads to identify the two men.

Duncan was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a K9 bite and once released; the two suspects were booked into jail on the following charges:

Demareia Duncan (booked at Santa Rita) – PC 211 – Robbery, PC 594 (A)(1) – Vandalism/defacing property, PC 148 (A)(1) – Obstructing/Resisting Arrest and PC 1203.2 – Probation Violation

Tiana Cook (booked at Fremont PD Detention Center) - PC 211 – Robbery

Both are scheduled to appear in court July 5, 2019.
