UPDATE: Mission Blvd now open. Fire contained.
*UPDATE*: The brush fire has been contained and evacuation orders have been lifted. Mission Blvd traffic is open.
At about 2200 hours the Fremont Fire Department began working a brush fire in the hills east of Mission Blvd, near Nichols Ave. The fire is currently limited to vegetation. Fremont Police personnel are on scene and have evacuated a small number of residences near 36990 Mission Blvd. All evacuated residents are asked to respond to the parking lot of 585 Mowry Ave. No additional evacuations are anticipated but updated information will be sent when available. Please avoid Mission Blvd north of Mayhews Road until further notice.
