Gov Murphy has declared a state of emergency effective at noon today.  Snow and ice is expected beginning later today with extreme cold expected tomorrow.  Ice may bring down trees and power lines so you can prepare in advance by planning to shelter in place for a minimum of 72 hours.  Make sure to have enough food and water on hand for each household member.  Some other items to consider having on hand includes:  batteries, flashlights, prescription and non-prescription medications, handheld can opener, charge your cell phone, fill your car's gas tank, keep generators away from the house, report power outages to your utility company and assume any downed wire is live!  Also to assist our Public Works Department with snow clearing operations please do not park vehicles in the street, and inform your snow removal contractors that they cannot plow snow from your driveway into the street.
