UPDATE to homicide investigation with correct spelling of victim's last name

On October 8, 2018, at approximately 12:24 a.m., the Fremont Police Department was contacted regarding a report of gunshots coming from a residence on the 43000 block of Charleston Way.  Patrol units were immediately dispatched to the scene, made entry into the residence, and discovered a deceased male in a bedroom.  This investigation is being considered a homicide.
 
The male has been identified as Dominic Sarkar, a 56-year-old Fremont resident, who lived at the residence.  Sarkar was an executive chef at a Fremont restaurant.
 
A witness that contacted Fremont PD stated he heard the gunshots and saw a male leaving from the area of the front door of the residence, get onto a bicycle, and pedal away.
 
Fremont Police Crimes Against Persons Detectives have assumed the investigation and are diligently working on developing leads to solve it.
